Industrial Ethernet Solutions
While the information technology revolution may have started in the office, the need for reliable data on the shop floor and other harsh environments has started another revolution.
Factory Automation
Factory automation requires the most robust media and infrastructure available and involves specialty protocols layered over Ethernet TCP/IP (Ethernet/IP, ModBus TCP, PROFINET). Plant floor applications may also have millisecond timing requirements making deterministic data transmission and processing essential. Ethernet is now recognized as the network of choice out side the office for its many strengths:
  • Ease of Use

  • Seamless information flow from using the same network throughout your enterprise

  • Maintainability

  • Widely available expertise, including your present IT department.

  • Economy

  • Standardization brings economies of scale and potentially lower costs.

  • Remote Access

  • Simplified device-to-internet connection make data collection and diagnostics possible using a standard web browser.
    Harsh-Duty Commercial Datacom Solutions
Harsh-duty commercial applications can now reap the benefits of Ethernet. RJ-Lnxx® RJ-45 connector products are robust, reliable, and prevent contamination from dirt, dust, oil and water while transporting crucial data for applications like defense, outdoor telecom and oil exploration. Diagnostic Tools
    SNMP - OPC Server
Direct-Link SNMP Management Suite (SNMP MS), based on OPC technology, works with the existing HMI application running on a PC. Direct-Link SNMP MS converts SNMP agents being sent to the PC from the Direct-Link Industrial Ethernet switch into OPC tags, which can then be easily displayed in the HMI application.

Direct-Link SNMP MS provides operators with a real-time view of the health of their Ethernet network devices and the overall Ethernet network traffic volume from within their OPC-client HMI software environment. Direct-Link SNMP MS also has teh ability to analyze the raw data and issue warnings about the operating condition of the network. Direct-Link SNMP MS is an OPC 2.0 Server that can interface with any OPC client software.

    I/O Modules
The BradControl family of I/O modules provides a reliable solution for connecting industrial controllers communicating on industrial networks to I/O devices. Both in-cabinet and on-machine harsh environment applications are supported.

    In-Cabinet:
The BradControl Block I/O system is an effective way to connect industrial I/O devices to a PLC or PC controller over Ethernet. The BradControl interface solution is comprised of a network adapter and up to 32 expansion modules mounted in an enclosure close to the field devices.

    On-Machine:
BradControl I/O modules provide a reliable solution for connecting industrial controllers communicating on Ethernet to I/O devices in harsh environments. Rated for IP67 environments, BradControl I/O modules can be machine mounted and are able to withstand areas where liquids, dust or vibration may be present.

Network Interfaces for PC Control, SCADA and HMI applications
Network interfaces for communication with Ethernet are available in both hardware (PCI bus format) and software interfaces.

Hardware interface (PCI bus format): applicom and Direct-Link Universal 3.3/5V PCI network interface cards connect a PC to Ethernet. For messaging applications, a two channel version is also available allowing the PC to act as a gateway between Ethernet and another network.

Software interface: Direct-Link SW1000 communication drivers provide data acquisition between HMI/SCADA applications and industrial devices connected to Ethernet TCP/IP applications. Use a standard Ethernet interface card or just the Ethernet port in the computer. Quickly upgrade to the BradCommunications PCI interface for a more dedicated communication link and higher performance without changing your configuration.

    Gateways
BradCommunications gateways allow the integration of Ethernet with other networks and devices easily and seamlessly and are available for a multitude of applications.

Multi-protocol intelligent gateway - the applicom GATEway is a configurable stand-alone intelligent gateway that allows plant-floor devices to communicate and to interoperate simultaneously with each other through Ethernet TCP/IP, Serial and Profibus networks. The applicom GATEway performs all communication tasks to exchange data between devices by running automatic read/write cyclic functions. By running 20 different protocols simultaneously, the applicom GATEway allows you to set up more than 20,000 different combinations to create industrial architectures such as data translator, data concentrator and industrial firewall.

Simple gateway adapters - the Direct-Link family of gateways is designed to connect two different industrial networks in an easy and cost-effective way. No programming is necessary; the gateway transfers cyclically I/O data between two networks according to the user configuration.

    I/O Simulation Software
PICS Simulation software tests and validates your control program and associated software applications and acts as a training tool for operators before the system goes operational.

    Save time and money
  • faster startups - typically save up to 30% of the overall project programming, installation and debugging time

  • eliminate software bugs earlier in the project

  • locate and correct software problems 10 to 20 times faster in a simulated environment

  • reduce downtime by installing tested and proven software

  • Reduce project risk
  • minimize project scheduling and cost uncertainties associated with debugging control logic problems

  • identify and correct problems before they cause delays and cost over runs

  • Improve operator training
  • operators can gain valuable experience running production on the "live" control system in a simulated environment

  • training sessions can include emergency scenarios that would be too dangerous using the actual equipment
